The Battery Asset Management Summit UK & Ireland returns to London on 13–14 October 2026, bringing together asset owners, optimisers, investors and industry experts to explore the strategies shaping battery asset performance, from optimisation and maintenance to cybersecurity, finance and risk.
The ESA will be actively involved across the two-day programme. John Southern, ESA Strategy and Operations Director, will chair the panel “Grid-Scale Risk: Cybersecurity in the BESS Asset Chain”, exploring cybersecurity, resilience and risk across battery storage assets. Jason Howlett, ESA CEO, will also be chairing the second day of the conference.

We’re hosting an exclusive ESA Member Networking Event in association with Octopus Energy.
This complimentary event, generously supported by Octopus Energy, will bring together leaders from across the energy sector for an afternoon of insight, discussion and networking.

Against this evolving backdrop, the Financial Times’ 11th Energy Transition Summit will bring together senior business leaders, policymakers, energy suppliers and customers to explore the future of global energy markets. Over two days, the summit will examine the structural forces shaping energy supply and demand, emerging trends in infrastructure investment, and practical solutions to balancing growing power needs with climate and resource challenges.
ESA Chair Baroness Luciana Berger will take part in the panel discussion on 19th October, “The Storage Revolution: Solving the Curtailment Crisis,” which will explore how energy storage is helping to address renewable energy curtailment, support growing AI-driven electricity demand, and unlock greater grid flexibility. The session will also examine the impact of grid connection reforms and regulatory developments on energy storage investment strategies, alongside insights from industry leaders.
Durham University will be hosting its Energy Day 2026: Safe and Sound – Energy Security, Innovation and Communities, bringing together experts from academia, industry, government and communities to explore how the UK can build a more resilient, innovative and sustainable energy system.
The programme will examine a range of clean energy technologies, including offshore wind, solar, geothermal, hydrogen, marine energy and energy storage, alongside the challenges and opportunities around grid integration, investment, skills and future deployment.
ESA Policy Lead Guy Clark will be taking part in the ‘Clean, Resilient Power Technologies’ panel, exploring the role energy storage and other clean technologies can play in strengthening UK energy security, increasing system resilience and supporting the transition to a flexible, low-carbon energy system.
Electrifying the Economy 2026, from Innovation Zero, brings together business and energy leaders to explore how organisations can successfully navigate electrification, from investment and technology deployment to energy infrastructure and collaboration. The programme covers the commercial realities of electrification alongside practical approaches to optimising energy and transforming operations.
John Southern, Strategy and Operations Director, will be moderating the panel discussion “Building Your Energy System: Onsite Generation, Storage and the Future Grid” taking place from 13:35–14:15 as part of the Optimising Energy stream. The session will explore how onsite generation and storage can help organisations improve resilience and reduce operating costs as they electrify.
