GivEnergy Ltd has filed a notice of intention to appoint an Administrator
The ESA is concerned to learn that “GivEnergy Ltd has filed a notice of intention to appoint an Administrator, a formal step in the UK insolvency process that typically precedes entry into administration”.
As quoted by GivEnergy Ltd “this places serious doubts that GivEnergy will be able to continue honouring warranties, provide ongoing technical support, firmware updates or spare parts” for their products.
ESA is working closely with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) to understand the specific facts in this case and more widely to consider continuity of services in the case of any future company failure in the energy storage sector. In the immediate term, we have jointly prepared some FAQ’s to address the urgent questions people may have whilst we establish the facts and seek to work with a potential Administrator to understand the direction for GivEnergy.
GivEnergy has been a market leader in the industry over the past few years and has tens of thousands of assets deployed in the UK. The energy storage market is gathering significant momentum, with numerous active suppliers. ESA is not party to information about internal factors within GivEnergy, but does not see the company’s difficulties as indicative for the wider market, which remains an attractive growth market. This is evidenced with significant growth from existing manufacturers as well as newer entrants who continue to be very successful in their approach.
This is an evolving situation and the ESA is unable to offer any further advice or comments at this stage until an administrator is appointed or there is a further announcement from GivEnergy Ltd. We will endeavour to add to the FAQ’s as the situation becomes clearer.
